Een kleine alchemie is een dichtbundel van Erik van Ruysbeek, uitgegeven in 1973 door Colibrant. Dit boek, bestaande uit 90 pagina’s, is een eerste editie en meet 16 cm x 21 cm. Het boek verkeert in uitstekende staat (Fine) en heeft een zachte kaft met genaaide binding. Een kleine alchemie is zeer zeldzaam en wordt beschouwd als een waardevolle toevoeging aan de Vlaamse poëzie.
Erik van Ruysbeek, het pseudoniem van Raymond van Eyck, debuteerde in 1947 als essayist en publiceerde een jaar later zijn eerste dichtbundel, Weerklank. Zijn oeuvre omvat ongeveer twintig dichtbundels, vier romans en een tiental essays. Enkele van zijn bekende romans zijn De dood en de dageraad (1977), De ark en de ratten (1984), De magische cirkel(1986) en De Gordiaanse knoop (1991). In 1991 ontving hij de Prijs voor Letterkunde van de Vlaamse Provincies voor zijn gezamenlijke werk.
De poëzie van van Ruysbeek is doordrenkt van mystieke ervaringen en de beleving van universele eenheid. Zijn wereldbeeld is sterk beïnvloed door filosofieën uit het Verre Oosten. Hij geloofde niet in een scheppende God, maar wel in een kosmisch gevoel waar we eeuwig deel van uitmaken. Dit geloof in een allesomvattende eenheid en de zoektocht naar spirituele betekenis komt sterk naar voren in zijn werk.
Een kleine alchemie bestaat uit vier delen: Wereldse liederen, Avondliederen, Proeven van haikoes en Spiegels der transparantie. In deze bundel onderzoekt van Ruysbeek thema’s zoals het mysterie van het bestaan, de reflectie van het innerlijke zelf in de wereld, en de subtiele verbanden tussen het materiële en het spirituele. Zijn gedichten zijn vaak introspectief en vol van symboliek, waarbij hij de lezer uitnodigt om na te denken over de diepere betekenis van het leven en onze plaats in het universum.

Erik van Ruysbeek, the pseudonym of Raymond van Eyck, debuted in 1947 as an essayist and published his first poetry collection, Weerklank, a year later. His oeuvre includes about twenty poetry collections, four novels, and around ten essays. Some of his well-known novels are De dood en de dageraad (Death and Dawn, 1977), De ark en de ratten (The Ark and the Rats, 1984), De magische cirkel (The Magic Circle, 1986), and De Gordiaanse knoop (The Gordian Knot, 1991). In 1991, he received the Prize for Literature of the Flemish Provinces for his collective work.
Van Ruysbeek’s poetry is imbued with mystical experiences and the sense of universal unity. His worldview is strongly influenced by Eastern philosophies.
