Richard Beckford is sent back to his childhood home in Jamaica after years of living in England to assess the state of the family plantation. The sugar and rum yields have significantly declined in recent years. Richard also seeks to uncover the truth about his brother Peter’s death, which occurred under suspicious circumstances. In his heart, he hopes to find the pirate Anne Bonney, for whom he once had a great admiration. He becomes entangled in a web of intrigues as he tries to discover the truth and find his own place in the complex world of the Caribbean.
