Valentine Dobrée (1894-1974) was a versatile artist, known as a painter, sculptor, writer, and poet. Initially recognized for her figure paintings in the 1920s, she later delved into cubism, surrealism, and collages. She was closely connected with notable literary and artistic figures of her time, including the writer Margaret Storm Jameson and members of the Bloomsbury group. Dobrée was also romantically involved with Ralph Partridge, the husband of Dora Carrington, and lived with them at Tidmarsh. This volume, This Green Tide, reflects her unique perspective and artistic evolution, marking a significant contribution to her diverse body of work.
