“Sleutelbos op Gaston Burssens” is een studie over de Vlaamse dichter Gaston Burssens, geschreven door Karel Jonckheere. Deze eerste editie werd gepubliceerd door Brito in Antwerpen in 1972 en is onderdeel van de Brito-editie serie. De bundel omvat 137 pagina’s en meet 12,8 cm x 20 cm. Het boek is uitgevoerd als een genaaide softcover en verkeert in uitstekende staat.
Karel Jonckheere, geboren als Carolus Joannes Baptista Jonckheere (Oostende, 9 april 1906 – Rijmenam, 13 december 1993), was een veelzijdige Vlaamse auteur. Hij schreef poëtisch, later vol ironie, novellen en reisverhalen, maar ook gedichten, essays en kritieken. Jonckheere werd tweemaal bekroond met de Staatsprijs voor Poëzie: in 1947 met de bundel “Spiegel der Zee” en in 1956 met de dichtbundel “Van Zee tot Schelp”. Hij was literair adviseur van het Ministerie van Cultuur, de ambassadeur van de Nederlandstalige letteren in het buitenland en lid van de Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie voor Taal- en Letterkunde.
Het werk van Jonckheere is deels autobiografisch en heeft als thema voornamelijk de zee, gezien zijn geboorte in het visserskwartier. Tijdens zijn jeugd maakte hij kennis met Karel van de Woestijne. Volgens Jonckheere was Oostende een surrealistische stad met de Oostendenaars als een apart ras, wat hij ook beschrijft in zijn novellen en aforismen (bijvoorbeeld: “Oostende verteld”).
Jonckheere werd in Nederland vooral bekend als de voorzitter van het satirisch televisieforum “Hou je aan je woord” (1961-1963) met Godfried Bomans, Hella Haasse en dr. Victor E. van Vriesland.

Karel Jonckheere, born Carolus Joannes Baptista Jonckheere (Ostend, April 9, 1906 – Rijmenam, December 13, 1993), was a versatile Flemish author. He wrote poetic works, later filled with irony, novellas, and travel stories, as well as poems, essays, and critiques. Jonckheere was awarded the State Prize for Poetry twice: in 1947 for the collection “Spiegel der Zee” (Mirror of the Sea) and in 1956 for the poetry collection “Van Zee tot Schelp” (From Sea to Shell). He served as a literary advisor to the Ministry of Culture, was an ambassador of Dutch-language literature abroad, and was a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Language and Literature.
Jonckheere’s work is partly autobiographical and primarily themed around the sea, given his birth in the fisherman’s quarter. During his youth, he met Karel van de Woestijne. According to Jonckheere, Ostend was a surreal city with Ostenders as a distinct race, which he describes in his novellas and aphorisms (for example: “Oostende verteld”).
Jonckheere became especially well-known in the Netherlands as the chairman of the satirical television forum “Hou je aan je woord” (Stick to Your Word) (1961-1963) with Godfried Bomans, Hella Haasse, and Dr. Victor E. van Vriesland.
